Joss Whedon has acknowledged Moore as one of his influences (maybe not in that way, but that’s how the language of the press words it). F’rinstance, the bit where Buffy turns bullets into doves in “Primeval” is inspired by Promethea vs. Tom Strong (I forget the issue), and the earlier imagery in #5 with Margaret Case.
So if I were to cross Promethea over with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I’d want:
- Stacia Vanderveer to meet Faith after the whole two Prometheas, stabbed, kiss deal. Actually, scratch that—I want Grace Brannagh to meet Faith. Their combined attitude would set the pages on fire.
- Willow to meet Jack Faust (maybe in Season 6, maybe not)
- Cordy (okay, I’m stretching it over to Angel) to really have been in the Immateria after her quip about “Misty Magic Land”
- … I’m running out of ideas and personal knowledge… a discussion about shells and identity? God(dess) possession?
Oh, and one of Firefly’s famous lines?
It’ll rape, kill, and disembowel us. Maybe even in that order.
— Barbara Shelley (nee Ramirez), Promethea (Promethea #1)
(except the creature referred to, the SMEE, wasn’t a disguised-as-fantasy racist metaphor for “Indians”, ok, it was a blob of ink with claws)
