One of us may have asked Joss Whedon at the Firefly Reunion panel why the show can haz no Asians.

Very refreshing when I see others upset by this BS.
This graphic is EVERYTHING.
So much win.
How Much is that Geisha in the Window? - appropriation of Asian cultures in Firefly/Serenity
This is relevant to the things I’m interested in. The interesting things. The interests. No, but seriously, this is uncomfortably good watching.
(also it’s been a good while since I saw Blade Runner, but I honestly thought some of the marketplace/Eavesdowne scenes were from there. Is that lizard bar-coded?)
I am tired and the really dramatic Chinese phrases that I know will likely make people question my ethnicity (I’m too embarrassed to show them to anyone for proofreading).
(This is because I want to write Chinese people in Firefly. Why couldn’t you have made it easier by doing it first, Mutant Enemy?)
oh god if Firefly had cast an Asian American actor as Simon they would’ve had the whole “socially-awkward Asian prodigy” stereotype on their hands. Both hands, if River was also included.
In addition to beating everyone up, her superpower would be playing the violin. Or piano.
More fully-realized Asians in the movies and on TV, please. :(
