In a room full of people wearing disguises, Laurie Juspeczyk finds she only has eyes for famed physicist Dr. Janey Slater.
Before Watchmen.
Fucking kudos to the Silk Spectre book (don’t know whether it was directed as such in the original script or whether the decision was Amanda Conner’s) for sticking with the panel layout established in the GN.
^ this. Aww, tiny Laurie.
(why does Ozy look like a douche in every pose though)
Before Watchmen: Silk Spectre #2
What is this cover
Why is Laurie’s head shattering
Why are angry hippies bursting out of her boobs
why
That’s a weird face.
Are those… psychedelic-themed villains? I’m having The Courtyard and Century: 1969 flashbacks. Maybe exploring themes Moore has used isn’t as good an idea as it used to be.
I feel a bit uncomfortable singling out Amanda Conner’s art, since she’s the only female artist on Before Watchmen afaik, but where’s the rest of Laurie’s abdomen that her fist is coming out of? And her other boob?
I’ll be even more weirded out, though, if all the Silk Spectre covers follow this route with… symbols, plot elements, like those figures, on her boobs. Is this supposed to make readers uncomfortable with how she was raised to be a sex symbol, or is it more about a hot young Strong Female Character(TM) kicking ass?

^ Favourite part - the opening credits of Watchmen set to “The Times They Are A-Changin’”
Jim Lee’s “Before Watchmen: Nite Owl” Cover
He looks like a guy at a comic con who wants SO DESPERATELY for people to like his steampunk Batman costume and FINALLY after a long day of walking around feeling unappreciated somebody asks to take his picture and while posing for it he sucks in his gut so hard that it makes his back crack.
Ahaha. “Steampunk”: it’s goth, only brown! With owls. And clocks. THIS IS MAKING FAR TOO MUCH SENSE.
